Artist's Statement

Color & Light are the focus of my pastel paintings which evoke an underlying current of energy, captured in nature, at extreme and fleeting moments. My goal is not to convey a particular scene, but rather record the atmospheric conditions and envelope of light that create it. I am not a detached observer, but rather a participant expressing my profound feelings. This spiritual connection and reverence to nature... and the wonder and beauty of the landscape fascinates me endlessly.

I was fortunate to live in the beautiful Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania for 14 years. My paintings were from immediate surroundings to my home near The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This area along the winding stretch of the Delaware river, and the bucolic valleys of farm fields that roll along it are dear to my heart.

In 2010, I started a new journey and relocated to East Sandwich, Massachusetts. I am intimately fond of this area. I was drawn to this elbow of land that stretches out to sea, ever since I first ventured here in 1994. Now, living on a salt marsh, I am in constant awe of the ever changing light and tide conditions, and its effect on the landscape. This beautiful wonderland inspires yet another series of landscape paintings with its glorious expanse of marsh, cove, bog, dune and sea.

This site is dedicated in memory to my beautiful Mom who will forever inspire me, and to my best friend Hogan who taught me to keep going further and see what's around the next bend.
